Tragedy strikes as shots were fired by campus police at the University of Alabama Saturday morning, killing 18-year-old popular student Gil Collar.
Gil Collar reportedly knocked on the window of the campus police station nude and when the officer came out to investigate, he allegedly charged him. However, Gil was unarmed–so my question is why would you draw your weapon on an unarmed teen?? But then again, that’s a pretty dumb question– because officers seem to do it all the time!
According to the dailymail,
‘University of South Alabama Police report that an officer shot and killed an individual at approximately 1:30 a.m., Oct. 6, after the man attacked the officer just outside the police department on Stadium Drive The deceased has been identified as a USA student.’
‘The individual fell to the ground, but he got up once more and continued to challenge the officer further before collapsing and expiring,’ said Ayers. Ayers said that the officer shot Collar after the teenager rushed the officer in a threatening manner and ignored his commands to stop.
An autopsy report is being done to determine whether or not there were drugs or alcohol involved. The officer is currently on paid leave, as usual. smdh
